3 BEAUTIFUL BOOKS ON SANKT NIKOLAUS
All over Germany (and German kids all over the world) put out their boots yesterday night for Nikolaus to bring some treats and small gifts. If you don't know about this tradition: Nikolaus, born into a wealthy family, was a Christian and bishop in Myra - who when his parents died, distributed his wealth to the needy. He was known for his kindness, especially to children. On December 6th he died, which his why we celebrate him today and remember the value of kindness and sharing.
Here are 3 beautiful books so important for German children.
James Krüss / Günther Jakobs
DAS NIKOLAUS-ABC
This classic about Nikolaus bringing gifts to everyone - including a dog - is super cute, even more so with the modern, but still classic illustrations by Günther Jakobs. It has just a few lines per page and as the title say, you can practize the alphabet as well, if you wish.

WACH AUF, SIEBENSCHLÄFER, SANKT NIKOLAUS IST DA
After eating and eating all summer long, little dormouse goes to hibernate and thus misses Nikolaus every year. But the other animals keep telling him about this kind man. So he decides to make an effort and try not to fall asleep. And just in case he asks the squirrel to tell him when Nikolaus comes to the forrest to give the animals some treats. Will he see him this year?
This book, a modern classic, has stunning realistic pictures of the forrest and animals. My 3 year old son loves it and wants to hear the story again and again.
